It sounds like you had ASP.NET 1.1 installed and then upgraded to ASP.NET 2.0. Blinq does not update scriptmappings when it creates the virtual directory; it inherits the settings you have in you default web site. If ASP.NET 2.0 is installed over 1.1,
by default the scriptmappings aren't updated and you can pick and choose which sites should use 2.0 in the inetmgr properties. If you'd like all websites to use ASP.NET 2.0, you can run aspnet_regiis -i -enable.
Yes, the application starts Internet Explorer by default, but it only gets started once when the application finishes. You should be able to run the website in any browser.
