I have a strange problem with my dotNetNuke site. My applications works fine when it has to do a registration for a new user. however once the user is registered, my login fails on IE and it succeeds on fire Fox. Infact on
IE every reuest i do it fails and it shows a common error object reference fails for an instance of an object. Can anyone tell me what is the problem and a solution for it. you can have a look at
www.gcaflorida.com to test this error. Also to add to this, all my DNN sites are down on my server and are having the smae problem

Hello: I was able to reproduce the error but the first login attempt I was able to click on my name, even though the critical error showed - I am no longer able to login using IE. Firefox is fine.
Also, for kicks I logged in using IE but provided an incorrect password and received the same critical error message. Doing the same in Firefox provides the expected Login Error message.
Is this something you can reproduce locally or only on-line? Also, could you look at your site log under Admin > Log Viewer and select Login Failure & Login Success (don't post this data...). Perhaps there is something here that could lend help. If you
can reproduce this locally then I would recommend stepping through code, of course. You may be able to get some additional information by temporarily modifying your web.config file so that <customErrors mode="Off" /> is <customErrors mode="On" />.
Unfortunately, that is about all I can think of. I have had better luck with using Firefox to login to some sites or sites that a proxy server might prohibit if I use IE, but don't think that this is related. I do recall others having login issues on multi-portal
sites for child portals, but I never use child portals.
