I followed the Consolidated server setup.
OMA on a HP HW6515 PDA works too (with the strange logon name, but it works)
But when dowloading and installing the vbs and prf I seem to be unabel to login with it.
I have tried
username alone. Nothing seems to work
I tried OMA via a webbrowser, and that works too.
What I did see is that my server is running without an SSL cert. and the outlook client is setup to use HTTPS
Were in the guide did I have to install a certificate. Do I need to buy one? or can I use a self signed?

RPC/HTTPS requires HTTPS to function. The key is that the certificate matches exactly the name of the server used in the profile configuration. i.e. the cert must be valid for server.foo.com if server.foo.com is what your clients will access.
As long as all the clients trust the Certificate Authority it will work. For a hoster, this most likely means they have procured a commercial cert from someplace like Verisign or any other public CA.
Does that make sense?

yes it does make sense, but why did'nt I find it in the server deployment guide?
I will buy such a certificate. Or can I use a self signed one?
When I have the certificate. where do I install it?
Do I install it on the default website object or on the RPC virtual server itself?
Could you elaborate on that a bit more please?
Thanks you very much

As long as all your clients trust the CA that signed the certificate it will work. For a "self signed" certificate that means you will have to install the root cert on every client who wants to access the site. This is typpically not what most folks do,
instead they buy a commercial certificate.
You will install the certificate on the web site your users will connect to, so this will be the same cert you are going to use to enable HTTPS for the OWA folks.

Because we are testing the hosted exchange environment I will use a self signed cert for now.
If I understand correctly I need to install the cert on the Front side exchange server. Not on one of the virtual sites but the default site itself?
Pls correct me if I am wrong
