I think you have to use the System.Net.Mail class to sending mails in asp.net 2.0

By default SMTP port is 25..
then why u r use different port no.
any special reason...????

To my knowledge , if you are not specifying smtpserver , it will pick localhost as the smtpserver .. so no need to specify smtpserver

This is a great piece of code that I was looking for to send users with lost password recovery controls. Are you sure the code is absolutely safe as we are trying to provide the password and the username, raw on the stream. The code works great, but am worried
about the safety when it comes to sending the mails as the mails have to be sent to people employed in an organization.

I was having a heck of a time sending email through our domain hosted by google mail service, using port 587 was the key. Here is the 2.0 code, uses the config file to avoid yucky hard-coded values.
