I'm working on a module that manages a test and test values for that test. So the master (test) has fields for test date, tester, serial number, etc., and the detail has test values for "runs" of the test. I've got it working such that when I create a new
test (and the module gets called with a null test id), I can fill in the test master data and save it. I can also call the module with a test id and am able to edit the master test data and add test value detail records. I'm having trouble making it work so
that I can create a new master record as well as add detail records at the same time.
If I enter the master data and click an "update" button, the master data is recorded. If I try to add detail records, I get database errors because I don't have a valid key to relate the detail back to the master. I feel like I need to post back and pass
in the newly created itemid but I guess I'm missing the DNN design pattern to do that. Can anyone kick me in the right direction?
