I am using an older version of DNN that was up and running and working fine, and suddenly, without any chnages and without upgrading anything, is generating the following error:
The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )
ERROR: Could not connect to database.

Is there anyway you can check to see if the DB is still available? Maybe make a quick aspx page that connects to the db and returns the portals or something like that. This sort of error can be caused by a number of issues, network issues or the db being
taken offline for some reason. Your best bet is to create debug projects and by trial and error figure out whats causing the problem.
Access to the event log would eba good start (the application event log not DNNs event log), this will tell you what errors are being caused by the system.

Thanks, I just ended up using a working version on my production machine and uploading it to the server. Then it started working.
I wish I could find the cause and learn something from it, but no such luck this time.
