I'm trying to compile the Personal Site starter kit in Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition, and I got the following compiling error:
Theme "White" cannot be found in the application or global theme directories.
I'm using Windows XP Pro service pack 2. Will somebody tell me how come the sample starter kit won't compile and where can I get the theme files? Thanks.

and welcome to the ASP.NET forums.
Once you created a new website based on the Personal Web Starter kit template you can find the White template on this place:
If it's not there try to create a new website based on that starter kit. If that should fail again you can download the template fresh from this url:
It also seems more people are having this problem:

Thanks alot! I didn't realize the downloaded starter kit is simply a template, and I still needed to create my own web site project from that template. The .Net 1.1 starter kits were actual projects ready to be compiled.
www.asp.net should definitely post some step-by-step instructions on how to run the samples for people coming from .Net 1.1 Once again, thanks alot!

once you've opened VWD or vs.net 2005 and choose Create a new website you'll find the templates in that dialog box.
Just something else: when you download a .vsi you can also open it with winzip (you can rename the extension to .zip) and see what's in there. Such a .vsi file is an installer for VWD/vs.net 2005.
