We have a contractor developing a product for us. We've had discussions on when using the dotnetnuke 4.x starter distribution pack, if table names should be revised to unique names so there is no conflict/problems in the future with other applications that
might have also used the starter distribution pack.
Is it important to revise to new table names or is that a bunch a smoke?

If you're going to alter the tables, it's smart to rename with a unique name. That's a given in any environment. But you control the contractor, have him do whatever you wish him to do.
