I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Can you please clarify? Are you wanting to have a test and production site? Are you wanting to have these on the same computer? Do you want something local to work on and upload the info that you finalize?

He presumably means running a development and a production site... something that is not simple to do with DNN.. I haven't even bothered trying to do it.... yet.
So I'd also be keen to hear a good example of how to run a local DNN site on XP Pro and then be able to move updates from that to a production copy on say Webhost4life.
Currently I do all development work inside the production site on hidden pages. I also create hidden 'draft' pages where content providers work on their own material. Once a page or module is ready to go it can be revealed or imported
to a live page easily enough. I do also have a junk DNN site up just for installing modules on to try them out before using them elsewhere.
Backups are done by zipping up the db and the the site the server and downloading them manually. Not a very good solution.
DNN needs some sort of "Stop site", "Import/Export Files and data", "Start Site" functionality.
Always interested in other workable methods.

I want to have 2 sites, one for production and the other to test skins, etc. Yes they'll be on the same computer.
Ah in that case... log in as Host, go Host, Portals, Add new Portal.
Make it a child portal so you can access it via your main portal plus subfolder: portal/subfolder
You can log into the new portal as admin or host and do whatever you like in it.
This is perhaps the easiest way. Next way would be to create a second DNN installation altogether.
