I moved my portal from one server to another. I did a backup/restore to move my DB. The new server has the same name as the old server. When I got everything all set with the connection string and the appropriate folder and DB permissions I loaded it up
expecting to see my website - alas - I saw:
"An Error Has Occured"
Is there anything else i should have to do with this? I thought that using the same server name would solve the whole problem with MachineKeyValidation.

When it loads up the service, it redirects to "Default.aspx?tabid=36&error=Object+reference+not+set+to+an+instance+of+an+object.&content=0" so I know that it is pulling the correct home tabid - I really cannot figure this one out.
********** Update *************
I found that the reason it was doing this was becuase my FTP program had errored out when it was downloading some files. I updated that now it's smooth sailing.
Thanks for the help!
