I use the Consolidated Guide and everything went fine until I start the Deployment Tool. When the tools starts, I get an error "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted." If I hit "Continue", the whole thing hangs and I have
to use Task Manager to kill it. Otherwise, 'Quit' will exit the program.
Can anyone help on this?

Did you join MPSSQL01 to the domain?

I got the problem solved but still don't understand why it solved the problem. Maybe someone can shed some light here.
Somehow, after putting in SP3a of SQL 2000, the SQL server stopped and did not restart by itself. The first time I got in the Deployment Tool, it did not find the SQL server. Realizing this, I restarted the server and the Deployment Tool started giving
me the error about not finding the domain. I then went into DNS setup and saw that I have 1st DNS pointing to the AD01 but also have 2nd DSN pointing to a public DNS. I removed the public DNS entry, rebooted the server and the error from the Deployment Tool
went away and completed the entire deployment section without other incidents.
What I don't understand is how the 2nd public DNS entry could have given me the problem? Shouldn't the server look at the 1st DNS before going to the second? Furthermore, I did not get the error the first time I started the tool, only after I restarted
the server to restart the SQL engine. I also did not have problem logging onto the domain after the restart.
