fabianus76, I found it a littly tedoius to set up the DotNetNuke 4.0.2 source code to work with so once I got it set up and created an empty website I created a backup of the whole project. I am making the file available to anyone who wants to download
it. My backup file was a little big so I am posting it on my ftp site. You can download my backup copy at
ftp.bigbytetech.ca. the username is Dnn and the password is dotnetnuke
Just download and unzip and the project is ready to run.

Hi Lini !
thank you for the tip. I tried it out :
First I unziped the DNN 4.0.2 source into c:\DotNetNuke_2.
Then I created a vitural directory "DotNetNuke_2" in IIS (5)
Then I started c:\DotNetNuke_2\DotNetNuke.sln
I did a first "Build Soluition" on the whole solution - this finished with "Build fail".
Then I did a "Rebuild Solution" - this worked fine !
Finally I wanted to do a "Publish Web Site" - but the message is "Build faild" ! I did a second time "Publish Web Site", again "Build faild" :-(
Here are the 5 errors :
Error 1 Name 'ProcessModuleLoadException' is not declared. C:\DotNetNuke_2\Website\admin\Containers\ActionButton.ascx.vb 206
Error 2 Type 'UserInfo' is not defined. C:\DotNetNuke_2\Website\admin\Containers\ActionButton.ascx.vb 219
Error 3 Name 'PortalSecurity' is not declared. C:\DotNetNuke_2\Website\admin\Containers\ActionButton.ascx.vb 227
Error 4 Name 'SecurityAccessLevel' is not declared. C:\DotNetNuke_2\Website\admin\Containers\ActionButton.ascx.vb 232
Error 5 Name 'ProcessModuleLoadException' is not declared. C:\DotNetNuke_2\Website\admin\Containers\ActionButton.ascx.vb 299
And there are also 3 Warnings :
Warning 6 variable 'Title' conflicts with property 'Title' in the base class 'Page' and should be declared 'Shadows'. C:\DotNetNuke_2\Library\Components\Shared\CDefault.vb 50 16 DotNetNuke.Library
Warning 7 'System.Xml.Xsl.XslTransform' is obsolete: 'This class has been deprecated. Please use System.Xml.Xsl.XslCompiledTransform instead.

Warning 8 'System.Xml.Xsl.XslTransform' is obsolete: 'This class has been deprecated. Please use System.Xml.Xsl.XslCompiledTransform instead.

Any idea how to fix this.

There a couple of reason for this, the first that I can think of is that in your Precompiled website the install date may be present in the web.config file. This tells Dnn that a portal is already installed and then Dnn will not install the default template.
I also think that Dnn modifies/writes a file to disk somewhere that tells it that there is already a Portal installed and not to install the default site template. I am not certain of this, maybe someone can help us out with this and clarify it for us.

I checked my web.config. But still on the installation, the modules are missing!

Hallo guys !
thank you for your help!
I just discovered that it is not necessary to build the Web Site, just building the solution is enough. Then I copied the folder Website and use this for production.
