why why indeed ;) ... Without wanting to get too deep into discussion about pros and cons of .net2.0 and DNN, i think its extremely important for developers to understand that DNN isn't the only tool you should use to develop web applications. As with any
project, when considering to use DNN you need to look at what the user wants and whether or not DNN will solve that problem .
It is true that there are so many places where DNN will make your life easier, such as setting up community sites, portals and even commerce stores, but at the end of the day as a developer you need to keep your skills completely up to date on as many technologies
as you can because DNN isn't going to solve every single web based requirement you have.
Take shoes for example, you need different shoes for different situations, even within sports, you wouldn't wear Football boots when playing Tennis, and you wouldn't wear ice skates when playing basketball.
The same goes with DNN, yes you might be developing a web application but you need to understand when and where DNN would help you, and when and where say, community server would be more useful.
I think the saying that most people would apply to this situation is "Give a man a hammer and everything becomes a nail" :)
