I have been running my DNN site on a dedicated box (Windows 2003) for about the last 12 months or so.... over the last couple of months the performance has gone to the dogs. Looking at the box I noticed the processor was being pegged with simple requests
to retrieve a couple of HTML modules. Looking at filemon turned up an interesting find that I could see that it was accessing files other than those needed when loading the site... such as other skins and containers that were no longer in use... after a few
gray hairs I stumbled on the fact that indexing and logging were enabled in IIS and this seemed to help the performance a bit. I used another tool (brain dead now can remember what it was called) but I could see that minor exceptions were being caught for
locationalization entries were misssing in some resource files. I guess that I am wondering if anyone else is seeing similar issues or knows of anything else I should be looking at that might tell me why performance may have fallen off so sharply over the
last couple of months...
I have additionally turned off most of the scheduler items and increased the times of anything left out into left field to avoid potential things on this front. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated at this point... thanks...
