I have transferred my DNN installation from hoster to my laptop.
Though when I hit http://localhost, i am transferred to the old URL...
How can I get around this? I cant restore my installation at the old location.

Add an alias for the site to point to localhost. You'll have to do this on the wroking version before you transfer it.

What kind of alias? A DNS alias? I went live with the portal on uglyservername.domainname.com and subsequently created a DNS alias nicename.domainname.com. I can get to the site with nicename, but it immediately switches back to uglyservername. Where
is it caching this information? I've looked everywhere (except the right place obviously). Thanks in advance!!!
