I'm seeing a large number of scheduler errors in the logs. The exception occurs in ResourceInstaller. Here is a trace:
InnerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

In poking through the code, and reading up on the forums, I concur with the posting made here back in Feb / 05:
The HTTPContext will be NULL when launched from the scheduler & causes the exception. Is it the case that, by disabling the ResourceInstaller schedule item, I'll only loose the XCopy support (and not break anything critical in the portal) ??
Am I the only person at this point seeing these failures (indicating something else may be wrong with my environment)? My development portal accumulates about 10pg / day of Scheduler errors in the log viewer just from this item and is pretty hard to miss...

yes, it's safe to disable that task - all is does is support xcopy installation of resources by polling the directories on a regular basis. I'm not 100% convinced that the error is a null httpcontext, though that certainly could cause the issue - it may
be a permissions issue, or an expected folder is missing. I've it running on a few sites, and haven't noticed any errors.
