This will probably seem like a very basic question, but I need to know how to upgrade from 4.0.0 to 4.0.2. I have looked for an answer everywhere, but nothing seems to be able to help me!
I have downloaded the 4.0.2 install package, and uploaded it in the module definitions page as someone suggested, but this did not work for me. Another person suggested extracting the .zip over the old installation, but then wouldn't I lose my skins and
Any help is greatly appreciated! How do I upgrade?

Overwriting your old files is the way to go, however don't forget to backup the site first (DB and files). Then copy the values for web.config to re-add them in the upgraded version. Your skins will still be there, unless you modified the core ones.

Thank you for your replies! Is there some way I can extract the .zip file quickly once I have uploaded it over ftp, or do I have to extract it first on my local computer, and then upload the files manually? My site is live, so I want to minimise interruptions.

Extract locally over your local copy of the website (remember backing up) then upload to your site.
It is best to block users from accesing the site while you upgrade it.
