I need some help in understanding how and why.
I am testing running some installations of DNN 3.1.1 off of SQL Express 2005. The connection string has not changed from when those same sites were running on SQL 2000.
Now I wish to test the upgrade of those installations to DNN 4.0.2.
Why do I need a special string for SQL Express 2005 in DNN 4?
Why is it different that SQL 2005?
What will happen if I start or upgrade to DNN 4 using SQL 2005 Express and at a later date move to SQL 2005?
Thanks for your help.

OK, I feel like a complete idiot right now. I have been running SQL Express 2005 with DNN 3.x since it came out and site upgrades and deployments have been a snap. But I can not get DNN 4.0.2 to run, period.
This morning I downloaded both install packages for 4.0.2 and 3.2.2. I tried to install 4.0.2 the way I have always installed any previous version.
Create the directory
create dbo user
Copy files from install folder to site directory
edit release.config adding db information both locations
rename release.config to web.config
Go to IIS and create new site pointing home directory to installation forlder
Assign site in IIS to application pool running asp.net2.0
Assign proper settings in IIS under ASP.NET tab for 2.0
Navigate to site
Error - Cannot find DotNetNuke_template.mdf'.
ok, found a few references here for that, downloaded and moved the file.
New Error - missing siteurls.config. Find and fix that.
New Error - could not connect to database.
Thinking maybe it's the references to sql express in the web.config. As I am using an already created DB even though it is SQL Express.
New Error regarding "SiteSqlServer" not being valid.
Just for fun, delete all files in the directory, replace with 3.2.2 install package, edit release.config with the same db settings, rename web.config, navigate to site and in 10 seconds new site running 3.2.2 under asp.net 2.0
I know I am missing something obvious here, could someone please point it out to me.
I would not think you would need to install the starter kit on a non-development hosting server, do you?
I'm dying here, thanks for your help!

Please ignore the stupid man in the corner [:$] he knows not what he does.
It really helps if you UN-comment out the appropriate connection strings.

Can you show me your connections string please, I can't get mine to work.
What did you call your database in Express 2005
