I'm working on an email web application using Asp.net and C#. I have a email server where the web app would be running. The users are on an intranet and they access this email server to send email blasts using that web app. All the emails from all the users
are to be sent as if they are from one user, namely the email domain name. This is a informational email sent to customers of our company. The email server should use microsoft exchange server 2003 to send the emails and have different exchange rules applied
to handle emails bouncing back.
I have some confusion as to how System.Web.Mail / System.Net.Mail classes would work with Exchange since the .Net classes work only with SMTP servers whereas exchange uses IMAP. Correct me if I'm wrong. Does this mean I have to enable/create a smtp virtual
server on the email server and then code the app to use that virtual server. In that case, there would be no need for exchange right? I'm not really familiar with Exchange and SMTP architectures. I will be researching more about them. In the meantime, I would
appreciate any help with the design on making this application. If anyone has done something similar, your advice would atleast set me on the right path and save me a lot of time.
Thanks in advance,
