My site is hosted which means all the modules were uploaded for me, so to be clear, I do not have sql on my home computer. I am trying to learn how to skin and was told at one forumn that I needed to download DNN locally in order to follow the skin directions
which I found at sites like polyduck and powerhouse.com. But I don't understand why I need to download DNN on my home computer if I have it hosted? And if anyone really knows of a beginning bonehead skinning lesson please let me know!

of cause, as long as you can install a skin in your portal (must be granted by your host), you can develop one locally, upload and apply it.
But this can become a very time consuming task, if you need to pack and upload for every little tweak. Experienced skinners prefer direct access to the web server, so they can create and modify the skin in place before packaging it.
