I am trying to create a new project directly on our live server. (The application itself will not be live until it is ready, but I need
to test it in the "live" environment.) I try to open a new project and select the location: 'http://webserver/Folder/Filename' when I click OK I get the following error:
The default Web access mode for this project is set to file share, but the project folder at 'http://webserver/Folder/Filename' cannot be opened with the path '\\webserver\wwwroot$\Folder\Filename'. The error
Unable to create Web project 'Folder/Filename'. The UNC share '\\webserver\wwwroot$\Folder\Filename' does not exist or you do not have access.
The folder is already created on the webserver and it has permissions to allow me, ASPNET, Internet Guest, Network Services, System with appropriate access permissions. There
is a virtual directory setup and mapped correctly. It gives the same error if I try to create a test subfolder within a virtual folder for a live website. I have been creating and
designing on localhost, and then converting the files over to the webserver for deployment. I tried creating a new blank/unedited project on my PC and converting it to the webserver. Once it has been converted I cannot reopen the project on the webserver
via my PC. I get the following:
Unable to open Web project 'Filename'. The file path '\\webserver\wwwroot\Folder\Filename' does not correspond to the URL 'http://webserver:/Filename'.
The two need to map to the same server location. HTTP Error 404: Not Found
I don't understand where the 'http://webserver:/Filename' is coming from. Any suggestions?!? Thank you for any help I can get on this!
