What is the correct way to open up the solution file for DNN 4.0.0 with Visual Studio 2005?
I created a SQL server 2005 database and loaded DNN 4 source code on my local machine and it runs fine from
http://localhost/dotnetnuke . However, when I then use Visual Studio 2005 Web Developer to attempt to open up the DotNetNuke.sln (solution file) it really has trouble. First its see visual studio as visual studio
7 (not 8) and attempts a visual studio conversion. Then the DNN projects really are not available for coding and I can't get a clean compile.
Is my assumption correct that DNN 4.0.0 is put out as a Visual Studio 2005 solution with many subprojects? Should I be opening the files with Visual Studio 2005 Visual Basic instead of Web Developer ? I should expect it to have a clean compile right off
the bat correct ?
Thanks in advance for any information you can share !!!

Here was the answer:
Using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition to a "File/Open Website" on the directory c:\dotnetnuke_2. That works nicely using version DotNetNuke 4.0.1.
At that point the solution is pulling items from two different directories on your C drive:
You will get a clean build / compile with conversion or build errors.
