When I hit a break point in the IDE in debug mode (at runtime) and try to examine
objects using any of the watch
windows, clicking on the
plus sign next to an object variable does not expand the variable. No object data is
displayed. It doesn't even work on the Me object in the local window nor auto window Does anybody know how to fix this?
i'm running VS.NET 2003 Pro with .Net Framework 1.1
i've tried everything from reinstalling VS to adding the assembly info file to every project in the solution and nothing works. i'm getting soooo frustrated. Important: I've noticed that the variable expansion in the watch window does NOT work ONLY when debugging
an ASP.NET web application built with VB. It works fine in C# web apps and also in windows app of both C# and VB. Also, I've noticed that I can expand arrays in the watch windows, but nothing else.
The environment is VB.NET and VS 2003.

You must not have any empty projects in your solution and/or you must have add an assembly info file to each project. I'm not sure if the latter is true. But if you have an empty project and add an assembly info file to it, then it's not empty any more. I
contacted microsoft tech support the other day and they confirmed that other people have had the same problem and that it is a bug in VS.NET 2003. Let me know if you still have trouble, please.
