I'm working on a political campaign site, and I need to start thinking about effective methods of accepting campaign contributions. I'm hoping to find some ideas for this. I've done several campaign sites, but contributions has always been handled separately...
so this part is new to me.
I need to collect specific information from contributors as required by law:
Name, spouses name, address, city, state, employer, occupation, etc.
Then, of course, I'll need to collect payment information: Credit Card #, Amount, etc.
I think the campaign team is fine with collecting the data and processing the payment manually, but even then, I need to handle the data securely through DNN. I think I can get an SSL certificate and enable it on a specific page (with a form requesting
the required data), but if I went that route, what would be the best way for the team to them retrieve the data securely? I wouldn't want it sent via insecure email.
I suppose I can avoid a lot of hassle by using a third-party payment processor (if I can find one that handles contributions... 2CO doesn't), but would I be able to collect all the data I need?
Any input would sure be appreciated.
