A personal goal of mine is to develop a module that would use IMDB to query and catalog my DVD collection. After several hours of searching I am still at a loss as to how to use the IMDB effectively as others have done. The
main idea is to create the DB schema, use a DNN module to search the DNN DB first and if no results were found search IMDB, search results would populate the DNN DB and saved data would display in a module. If no results were found a web form would be used
to enter the neccessary information.
Here are some links from my research:
IMDBtoXML is a COM component that queries the "live"
Internet Movie Database through HTTP and transforms
the result in XML documents.
IMDB ftp sync program
Amazon-Enabled Movie Collection Starter Kit
Ajax manage the movies you've seen from the IMDb Top 250
Unrelated but cool:
I currently use DVDProfiler to catalog movies and can export my movie lists and import them but this seemed like a worth while project that my benefit others that do not currently have any software, especially for use with
DNN. Those that have software with export capability should have the option to import, but to avoid duplicate entries the module should always check locally and IMDB first. I have not seen any effort like this for a web application only for desktop applications
so any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
