BTW, it' not like i missed the default portal setting on the host settings page. It just doesnt work (with godaddy?). I'm pretty sure the problem I am having is godaddy specific with the way they are doing virtual aliases, but i have already spent my money
there so i dont have much choice.

That worked perfect, many thanks.
I am surprised by a couple of things; First I had not even looked at the wizard. Partly because it does not show up on the admin menu. And since I got messed up with file manager in the toolbar earlier I had quit using the toolbar, sub-consciously thinking everything
was duplicated in the menus.
Secondly I am surprised no one else mentioned sooner. I have of course bitten the bullet and redirected my home page to a long subdirectory name that I would have preferred not to do. I am still not clear if there is any way other than redirecting to make
a DNN portal the default at godaddy, since it lives in a virtual directory of my hosting site.
