How about on the install select remote SQL server and the change the web config to point to your Sql server

Spire128 : Nice idea, but...
That install is naturally shorter and goes to its end.
But it does not install the DB commerce at all.
I'm still struck in this problem.
Anyway, thanks a lot for trying to help.

No guarantee I can help you, but if you're willing to humor me, I'm willing to try. Are you administering the db through the osql utility or do you have Enterprise Manager?

If u run the install and select remote Sql server then go to the following folder and run the Sql scripts with enterprize manager to build the database grant the permissions and add the products
C:\Program Files\ASP.NET Starter Kits\ASP.NET Commerce (VBVS)\Setup
Then change the web config connection string to point to yout local Sql server
