I'm writing my first web application and have been using SourceSafe with Visual Studio. After several weeks of normal activity, SS started prompting me to check out one of my forms every time I open the project. I figure there must be something on the
form that's changing when I open the project. I suspect it's a datagrid causing it, because that's the only difference between this form and all the others. It does this on all of our development stations. Any ideas on why this happens and if I can avoid
it? It makes it difficult with multiple developers. I appreciate any info anyone has - Thanks in advance!

I've seen this behavior when VS.NET is set to open ASPX files in Design View (the default setting) and VS.NET tries to modify the HTML. I usually change my VS settings to open in HTML mode by default.

This is a confirmed bug in Visual Studio. The following hot fix fixes the problem in most cases.
FIX: "Check Out for Edit" Dialog Box Appears When You Try to View an ASP.NET Web Form That Has a DataGrid Control in an HTML Table
