Ok, I've attemted both ways to install the portal on an .net account I just purchased: copy db and web dir mannually and using the RemoteFullInstall.bat file. Neither seems to work. I'm stuck with the following IE error at the moment:
Could not load type 'ASPNET.StarterKit.Portal.Global'.
This error occurs after changeing the connection string and copying all the web dir files over using FTP. I ran the sql setup scripts as per the instructions. But, I had problems with the sql scripts too because my purchased db is not named "Portal" which seems
to be hard coded into the sql. But, again, I think I got all the scripts to run. Anyway, this resulted in the error above.
Since this didn't work I tried to use the installer script, RemoteFullInstall.bat, but it has a number of parameters that lead me to belive it is not suitable for running against a purchased .net account such as at HostMySite.com, that is you have to have complete
control over IIS and the MS SQL Server (ie: sa password), which with a purchased account I do not have. I did put in parameters,best guesses, in an attempt to do a COPY_ONLY and got this command prompt error when I ran the installer:
Unhandled Exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800706BA): The RPC server is unavailable.at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHR(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo)at System.Management.ManagementScope.InitializeGuts()
Can anyone please help. Am I missing something? Has anyone else done this with success (ftp or the script)? They make the starter kit so easy but give little detail on handling the install such as this!

Well, I got past the above problems. Some of my ftp's didn't make it to my hosting site. But now when I try to change the site name I get an access violation. I am trying to start debugging on the project but I get the error can't start debugging on the
server. This is all very furstrating, I had hoped I could just install the portal software and just go. I've had to do alot to get this far. And no one offering advice!
