out of curiosity, does it have features that DotNetNuke does not have or couldn't have with the existing module base? ...if you're familiar with dnn.
The CSK is recognised as a starter kit as it comes with a MSI installer to setup IIS, MSSQL etc. It is also available for multiple development environments (VB.NET,C#, SDK, VS.NET etc).
The GCN version is an improved version of CSK with some bug fixes and enhancements however it is only available in C# and does not provide a MSI installer.
You should find more details by searching the CSK/GCN forums or here
You can enhance DNN by building custom modules and a large number of modules can be purchased. These can be uploaded without rebuilding the core web application.
CSK/GCN can also be extended however for most changes this requires manual modification of the source code.
Both applications support skins but DNN provides better support and you can download or purchase new skins.
The CSK has the ability to store Downloads and images in the database. This is useful to prevent unauthorised users accessing them via URL direct although it does cause other problems. (This was on DNN roadmap but not sure if yet available)
