Version 3.1 of the Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data [220.127.116.11] docs mentions two points in regards to strongly typed datasets:
Use strongly typed table and field names.
Allow strongly typed data rows to be passed in place of parameters.
I tried finding methods inside the DAAB that would allow you to do this and even searched the docs, but I can't find any.
If the DAAB truly allows you to use strongly typed datasets, I was expecting to see some methods that have the following parameters:
- which would contain the SELECT Command object associated with it
- TableMapping object for use with the associated Typed Dataset (associates the column names in place of parameters)
Strongly Typed Dataset object
The YTCIDAAB which can be downloaded from the asp.net website, allows you to do the above with many overloaded methods. You can pass either and untyped or typed dataset object down and it will be properly populated as well as using the table columns for parameters
when you want to update the dataset (stronglyh typed or typed) against the datasource.
I don't see any methods trying to pass in these values for the MS DAAB. For the Dataset object, the RETURN value is a Dataset and not the Strongly Typed Dataset.
Bottom line is, if I want to use the MS DAAB with strongly typed datasets, just how do I do so? I don't see any docs or code samples on how to accomplish this...
