I want to install a DNN site that's on one computer to another.
I set up all to works :
* Copy DNN directory
* Set IIS App on it
* Install DB and modify web.config (server, databasename...)
* Changing the HTTPalias url in the DB
But when I want to connect, I always have this problem :
French :
"la limite de redirection de cette URL est dépassée. chargement interrompu. cette interruption est peut-être due à un cookie bloqué."
(traduct from ofrench to english, so not the same that you can see ;) :
"URL redirect limit has been reached. Interrupt load. May be cause to a blocked cookie."
It's not about the cookies as Ii have another DNN site that is have been installed the same way and it's works.
Can you help me please ? I can't figure how to start my DNN site.
It's for DotNetNuke running on IIS :)
I don't know where the problem come from. The error seems to come from IIS because DNN loops while reaching this httpalias.

Does someone got the same problem ?!?
I know that, but when you run DNN an errors are shown, they are from 3 possible sources:
DNN - Dnn interface is shown but at some point an error is show ( Logged in the Event Log )
ASP.NET - Dnn interface do not show, instead an error in the format Application title, error description, call stack.
IIS - Usually a blank page with an error number, title and in some situations a description
Ho ! Sorry :)
None of them, it's a messagebox.
So I think it's from IIS, but testing from Rebol (www.rebol.com), it says... "Target url: http://localhost/altidia.gestion/default.aspx could not be retrieved.
Circular forwarding detected"
It's a rebol message, but it seems that DNN loop into default.aspx. If I change the alias for
keepalive.aspx, I go to this page.
Why does DNN loop into this page ?
I compare it with another default.aspx that work's, and there no differences.
Try deleting the cookies on your local machine. Also, try running iisreset.
I have empty my web cache and cookies.
I have stop then restart my IIS server (and reboot the computer...)
This message is from FireFox. When I tested on IE it loops...
This is what my proxy says when connecting too the DNN site :

Is http://localhost/altidia.prospection/default.aspx the URL you have setup in DNN or is the URL
http://localhost/altidia/default.aspx. If the 2nd URL is the one you are using, then that explains the problem. Something is changing the URL and adding
.prospection to the VD. You might want to add the following alias to DNN:
localhost/altidia.prospection.
I setup localhost/altidia.prospection/default.aspx in DNN
The DNN site can be access by http://localhost/altidia.prospection
The directory on the server is D:\sites\altidia_v2\_050727\a_altidiadnn0
"adding .prospection to the VD." -> What is VD ?!? Virtual Directory ???
Yes, I meant Virdual direcotry when I put VD. So based on you last post is everything up and running now. If not, please post what is happening no so we can continue to resolve this.
I think it's a bug of DNN as I tested all the solutions and it still does not work (like others that have posted here and that don't have replies...)
Ha... another thing, is that the redirect does not set the .ASPXANONYMOUS cookie by the default.aspx.
I check all my settings and I have not changing anything about cookies in my DNN configuration [:(]
Thanks for your help.
PS : I've tried to access directly to the directory (and not by Virtual Directory) changing also the alias, but it does not works too...
DNN version : 3.0.13
Yes !!! As I was desesperate, I put it to be sure that DNN launch this page...
But with ou without default.aspx, it still loops... in default.aspx (so DNN find it if I don't put it [:)]).
Really thanks for all your replies...
I don't know what more I can say to help you help me [;)]
I setup localhost/altidia.prospection/default.aspx in DNN
The DNN site can be access by http://localhost/altidia.prospection

The physical directory is D:\sites\altidia_v2\_050727\a_altidiadnn0
URL: http://localhost/altidia.prospection,
http://localhost/altidia.gestion, www.rebol.com Can you please provide the following informaton.
1) IIS setting for the site: What is the name of the VD? Home directory for the virtual directory, etc
2) Do your VD names have periods in them as shown above?
3) What is the home directory of the default web site (localhost)?
4) What physical directory is DNN installed under, that is having the problem? What version is it?
5) Are there any other installation of DNN? If so, what physical directory are they pointing to? What versions are they?
6) What are the portal aliases that are setup for the DNN install that is having the problems? Is this a parent site or child site? If you have more than 1 portal setup the please list the alias information for each portal.
7) What things have you tried to fix this?
Some of these questions might have already been answered by I want want to get a Summary of all the information consolidated in one post. This is getting to long and hard to keep track of what information has been gathered and what has been tried.
3) What is the home directory of the default web site (localhost)?
Home directory of localhost : D:\sites\

Parent site
5) Are there any other installation of DNN? If so, what physical directory are they pointing to? What versions are they?
Other installations... a lot [;)] (all of them at the root of the localhost folder, so I just "created" the application):
dnn3 (installed directly on the server, some module added: Catalook...)
Name of application : dnn3
Physical directory : D:\sites\dnn3
Portal Alias : localhost/dnn3
Version of DNN : 3.0.13 Parent site
v2prospection (installed by copy of the dir and database)
Name of application : v2prospection

Portal Alias : localhost/v2prospection
Version of DNN : 3.0.13 Parent site
dnn310 (installed directly on the server)
Name of application : dnn310
Physical directory : D:\sites\dnn310
Portal Alias : none
Version of DNN : 3.1.0 Parent site
dnn310r (installed directly on the server, PA version)
Name of application : dnn310r
Physical directory : D:\sites\dnn310
Portal Alias : localhost/dnn310r
Version of DNN : 3.1.0 Parent site
v2prospection
(installed by copy of the dir and database)
Name of application : v2prospection
Physical directory : D:\sites\v2prospection
Portal Alias : localhost/v2prospection
Version of DNN : 3.0.13 Parent site
One more question: Do all the other sites work, except for the one above?
Some sites stop working after I play with setting ;)
Now I have this error again on a "fresh" install done like I described before (copy files, databases, plug them, set IIS, edit portalalias table and let's go...) Still Don't Work !
Does someone can help me on this ?
Is it a DNN bug (because it's not the first time that is happened) ?
Does I set up wrong IIS (permission on rôle or whatever) ?!?
Can the Core Team just explain me what DNN do when we request it (or give me a link to read) ?
Please, I have to do some tests and we need to backup our portals and put them on local server, but if we always have this error, we can not go so far...
I too have been experiencing this problem. We built the DNN site on a server 2003 standard machine and then fielded it to a server 2003 webserver edition. Development box works great - deployment does the infinite redirect to my portal alias(which is correct!).
Error is most likely in IIS 6.0 box that has been locked down by the admins.
Any resolution on this issue? I'd like to know too.
Really sorry Mark, but I don't find the issue.
I think that as I use the source version, a recompile of the project can solve the problem.
For my part I give up my local installation and install it on the production server (asking God to don't let me fall as nobody knows the solution to this problem).
Good luck to you and please, return here to tell us what you do. As we are not alone whit this problem, it can be helpful to everyone.
Maybe the new 3.1.1 solve it.
Arf [:P] still don't work on a new backup DNN from production server (3.1.0) with backup database.
Does anyone in the core have a solution about this ?!?

Jul 30, 2005 09:19 AM|Fabio972|LINK
I've seen the same problem here and it's not still resolve : http://forums.asp.net/943493/ShowPost.aspx
