I´m trying to do the same thing using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express, like this:
- Tools -> Choose Toolbox Items
- I browse to my homemade Component (.dll) and add it
The Component appears in the Toolbox, but it´s shaded and I cannot drag it onto my webform. Does anyone know how to get this to work?

I am experiencing the same issue with a DLL that was developed for the .NET framework 1.1., and it is supposed to work in 2.0. No go though. I get a greyed out control in my toolbox. I found literally dozens of controls that were the same way, that CAME
WITH VS 2005!! I can see if the page doesnt except it...
For example, contentplaceholder ONLY works on .master pages. This makes sense, as this object is specifically for .master pages. But this control I have should be for any .ASPX page, as it was in 1.1. I am working strictly in 2.0 and refuse to go back to
1.1, so I need to solve this issue as well.
Have you gotten anywhere else with this? I need to really hit on this issue, as a grant depends on its success. Crunch time!
