When you use the Remote Data control does it save the data edits back to the original table or does it essential just import the data into the XMod data structure and maintain it there going forward? Doesn't this run a data integrity risk?

Hi, just saw this thread. Actually our pricing that you refer to for $149 is for unlimited domains on a single server. This is typically aimed at hosting providers who install numerous DNN domains on a single server. The single domain license is also available
on Snowcovered for less that the Xmod module itself. We feel the current license is in line with our other products and is currently supported by the marketplace. Having said that, we are very customer driven and are always looking for constructive criticisms
which can be reviewed in an effort to keep us in line with our customers and marketplace.
We also do consulting and custom development. If we were working on an ERP integration contract, I can certainly tell you that even the $149 price tag for functionality of a large project as such would be simply the price of conveniently packaged functionality.
Having to develop custom applications/modules from scratch would cost many times over the price of any DNN module.
In reference to your question if Xmod Remote Data can save edits back to the original DB, the current answer is no. We are working on version 2.0 of Xmod Remote Data and it will provide basic importing of external data into native Xmod XML formats. The imported
data can then be edited and manipulated in Xmod as native Xmod data. Edits are saved in the Xmod version of the data and NOT back to the original import source. Also, the module will allow for the exporting of Xmod data to some remote datasource your specify
the connection and query, sproc, etc... for. The import and export processes are manual meaning that the import or export is triggered by a properly authorized user clicking the import or export button of the configured module.
No live editing of external data back to the external data is currently available.
As for Xmod itself and the DNNDev.com folks. I think you have to understand most developers situations. I for one feel that at some point you will be 100% correct. Remote data access and data import/export will eventually be made part of the core Xmod product.
Until that time, we fill a niche. We have been in the community since before DotNetNuke became DotNetNuke and plan to continue to exist in the marketplace. As such, when the time comes for Core functionality to exist in the core product, we are very open to
working with the DNNDev.com folks to help our existing customers make an easy transition from add-on to core functionality.

I have purchased Xmod and been experimenting with it and it has done what it say's on the tin for me,
but at the moment I am undecided whether or not to use it as a core module in a project I am working on as I expect to have tens of 1000's of records and I am currently waiting for a reply on the Xmod forum as to the maximum number of records Xmod can handle
before performance starts to degrade, mabye some1 on here can give me an answer
Apart form the above concern it looks like it's very flexible whih is why I am considering it to use as a core module in my project

Due to the overwhelmingly good references of XMod I finally purchased it, even if it doesn't suit me for the initially intended purpose, I'm absolutely sure it will be a very useful tool. I also purchased XMod Remote Data. Now, from what I have been able
to read, here and there, I've been able to understand that XMod Remote Data only helps retrieving (querying) data from distributed remote tables. But can it help post (insert and update) form data from XMod into remote tables?
I appreciate your help in this matter. Thank you. And thanks for the recommendation.
