Yes you are correct, but the bad module is now effectively blank and not referring to any ctl. In fact, the module works fine in other portals. It's as if this particular portal is still "remembering" the bad module and is preventing it from displaying ever
again. Does anyone know?

Ok I figured it out.
In the module definition, apparently the default user control is identified by the KEY. Here's the thing, DNN looks for a null or empty string! I had a value in there. Would be nice if this were documented. It's not even explained very well in any of the tutorials
either. They just casually leave it empty and not explain that leaving it empty is what tells DNN to display it. :P
I'm so getting wasted tonight.
