I'm not trying to start a debate over what is faster to develop with, but whenever I go to create some databound control/table/output in .NET I feel like I'm burdend with details. In comparison to doing this with classic asp I take much longer in .NET. Though
I can understand that things have to be made more complex in order to access more complex and powerful features I sometimes miss the looser and hack "friendlier" classic ado use in asp. Now I've seen things done in just a few lines also, but I feel stiffer
when doing it in .NET, perhaps it's just that I have not used it long enough yet.
One thing that I definitely know though is that the data wizards are not quite yet robust. Something that I can build quickly in Macromedia MX just does not seem to flow as well in Visual Studio .Net. I can usually create and re-work a master detail page
in a few minutes whereas in Visual Studio.NET I have to fiddle with selection events and paging events that seem not quite yet done. At least the community has been building and enhancing areas that seem lacking, especially repetitive ones.
