Just getting started with DNN and I need some assistance.
I am hosting a website at home via my cable modem with dedicated ip.
I am using windows server 2003 with IIS6.0. I can get DNN to work internally (utilizing (local)) fine, however, when accessing via the internet the DNN cannot access the sql server. I receive the error that the connection cannot be made.
Can someone steer me in the correct direction as to any additional configs that are necessary to setup DNN as a pseudo provider? The documentation states if you are setting up DNN on a remote host then "use the settings that the provider gives you". I need
to be the provider so to speak and need help.
Thanks in advance.

Are you behind a firewall or a router?
If you have a router, you need to configure it. You can do this by going to the virtual servers menu and enable port 80, and point it to the private ip of the computer you're hosting the site.
If you have cable internet most likely you have dynamic ip. you can go to sites like
www.dyndns.org they can point your alias name of your site to your ever changing external ip

For my testing I am not using a firewall. Also, I am paying the cable company for a static IP address.
