the sub-project forum/blog module comes from 2 core team members. To quote the 3.0.12 release notes:
"The first sub-projects to be announced are Forums, Blog, and Gallery modules contributed by AppTheory and TTT Corporation ( available immediately for BETA download from dotnetnuke.com ).
“We are very pleased to announce the contribution and release of the Forum, Blog and Gallery modules (based on the original code by Tam Tran Minh of TTT Corporation) as official DotNetNuke SubProjects” said Bryan Andrews of AppTheory, “These modules when integrated
on the new DotNetNuke 3.x platform provide a compelling solution set for collaboration and community building and we know this contribution will be one of many exciting new DNN SubProjects!”
As for community server being integrated, we do share common memberrole structure thanks to a shared backport of the Microsoft asp.net 2 memberrole provider. At the minute there is no "module", though I believe there are guides on the communityserver to
hack a solution, and I've no doubt a module will be out at some point.

Three core team members ;)
The TTT Forums originally was inspired by a project called riverside forums. Also, asp.net forums 1.0 was inspiration. The contributors.txt should give a brief summary of where this came from. I would say roughly 50% of the module has been completely
rewritten within the last 6 months.
