I am running W2K Professional / IIS 5.0 / MSDE 2000. I have my site running on my local machine
but when I try to access my site using my public ip address http://000.000.000.000/DotNetNuke/ I get the page not found error, even using another computer on my network and typing in
http://192.168.2.211/DotnetNuke/ also gives me the page not found error.
I have other test web site running on this server and I can access those from the web or another pc on my net with no problem.
I read some post that say a host table or a friendlyurl table need to be modified. I really do not have a tool that I'm aware of which will allow me to modify tables in MSDE, I downloaded a trial version of Teratrax Database Manager 4.0, but I don't see
if can modify the contents in a field.I downloaded WebMatrix and that appears to allow creation of databases.
Can you suggest what I can do to fix my problem and also an inexpensive solution to managing the MSDE databases.
Thanks... I'm an old Foxpro 8.0 user looking to learn asp.net

I'm not quite sure of what you mean, I think you are talking about logging into my DotNetNuke site using the username of Host, going into the Hosting tab and entering a site url . What should be my site url... the ip of the local machine or the ip of my
My router is setup to allow access on port 80:
You can configure the Wireless Barricade as a virtual server so that remote users accessing services such as the Web or FTP at your local site via public IP addresses can be automatically
redirected to local servers configured with private IP addresses. In other words, depending on the requested service (TCP/UDP port number), the Wireless Barricade redirects the external service request to the appropriate server (located at another internal
This appears to be working Ok, since I can access other test sites on my server from the web.

From the web "192.168.xxx.xxx" addresses are blocked by every ISP on the planet. These are private addresses intended for Intranets only. No router will pass these through.
10.0.0.0 through 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 through 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.255
You will need to either find the "public" IPAddress assigned to your router. Most likely it may be blocked. Adelphia blocks all incoming HTTP traffic.
Your ISP will either help you or tell you you cannot run a website from your home.
There are loads of DNN specific threads on hosting site in this forum.
