But of course, this had to happen! I am using a web browser control which does not have IE's full functionality - like modal windows and plugins for one. However there is a way to launch IE itself from the application as demonstrated here:

But I am now getting this error with this approach - on the following lines:

I have been using Cassini for most of this year - serving .Net 2.0 app that uses modal windows liberally. No problems.
To start your application from the Start menu (or desktop) like a regular Windows application:
1) create a IE shortcut with your app's url and place it in your app folder;
2) create a regular windows shortcut, pointing to the IE shortcut created in the previous step. Asign an an icon of your choosing and place it in your start menu.
You can deploy the two shorcuts and the appropriate icon file with the rest of the application. I would suggest using a VS deployment project for WINFORM applications as it will provide the necessary access to the host file system, menues, registry, GAC,
