THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for this post. Without it, I doubt if I could have kept my sanity today.
Changing the registry to Mixed Authentication mode for Windows & SQL Server was my main hitch. After I did that, though, I made the appropriate changes in the connection string and DNN installed (finally).
For those who are as clueless as I was this morning:
1. Necessary: Change your registry to reflect Mixed Mode Authentication using regedr32.exe Registry Editor. I had to dig to find the correct subkey (LoginMode), but it was there waiting for me. If you are using MSDE 2000, these instructions are invaluable:
* Be sure to read the link 274773 under How to Determine or Change Your Authentication Mode*
2. If you are having trouble creating a database using MSDE, the following help on osql is good:
I found just diving in and using osql was much more efficient than the Microsoft SQL Web Data Administrator that I downloaded.
