I asked a MS .Net Group Program Manager and he replied...
"The IE web controls are actually no longer under development at Microsoft. After the first release, which was a technical preview, we decided that we would no longer build and maintain these controls,
because they were primary targeted at Internet Explorer. We are not planning any future releases of the controls.
We have instead made the web controls sources to the public domain available as an ASP.NET source code project at
http://www.asp.net under the Downloads tab. The license for this project provides full rights to modify and redistribute these controls or their sources. If you are, or want to be,
involved in a community project creating future versions of these controls, we’d be happy to promote your efforts on our website, and point people to your project."
Here's what I can tell ya.
