I maintain an old ASP.NET WebForms app that someone in the past wrote. (Never met him.) It has about a dozen reports that it renders, most using the report viewer control, but one generates an Excel spreadsheet. In the past that's worked fine with IE and
older versions of Microsoft Edge. However, now the new Edge throws an exception ("Couldn't download - Network issue") and Chrome also fails to with much the same error ("Failed - Network error").
However, IE renders the Excel spreadsheet fine. (It would)
I am not allowed to work on this app, even to solve this problem. (Believe me, I'd love to.) So, is there some setting we can set in MS Edge to allow the rendering of Excel spreadsheets?
This app is an Intranet app running behind our firewall.

According to Google, a virus checker or security setting could be blocking the file download.

WOW, that's interesting but at the same time frustrating. We do have a corporate side anti-virus that's controlled through Active Directory GPO's. Turning that off isn't going to happen. Well, I'll have to find some way of getting around this.
Thank you, @mgebhard.
