I need publish my web api application in a server, so I try to encrypt my web.config using aspnet_regiis -pe "connectionStrings" -app "MyApplication", with other applications I did it but this time I can't. It show a error who says "a configuration file
cannot be created for the requested configuration object web.config" that's all information. And I don't know if odac install that I have for other application what I manager could be the reason, my web site use oracle managed data access, so my website don't
need the oracle client. In my computer works perfectly, but when I publish in server and try to encrypt failed.
I don't know what's happen. Can somebody Help me, please? because really, I don't know what to do. Sorry for my english by the way, and thanks

According to your description, If the app's web.config you are trying to encrypt is not under the DefaultWebSite or you have deleted and recreated the DefaultWebSite, the -site option will need to be specified.
For example, when IIS is installed, a Web site named "Default Web Site" is created as site 1. In pages served from that site, the INSTANCE_META_PATH server variable returns "/LM/W3SVC/1". If you do not specify a -site option, site 1 is used.
Here is the link ,I hope it could help you.
