With the core team working on porting WPF/WinForms to the core framework, I am looking to start building a SCADA (Supervisory control and data acquisition)/IIOT platform that incorporates Blend type of IDE if you will, kind of like
the Ignition Software, if anyone is familiar with that. Which one of the 2 is the best to use to get started? Or is there something else out there that I can use to build this with Visual Studio?
Any info is greatly appreciated.

This forum is for web based applications. For desktop app, search for forums at https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home
Try maybe to see if
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/extensibility/visual-studio-sdk?view=vs-2017 could be an option.

Hi twocool83 ,
The first two versions of .NET Core focused primarily on supporting web applications, web APIs, IoT and console applications. .NET Core 3 adds support for building Windows desktop applications using WPF and Windows Forms frameworks and modern controls and
Fluent styling from the Windows UI XAML Library (WinUI) via XAML Islands.
WPF and Windows Forms can now be used with .NET Core. They ship in a new component called “Windows Desktop” that is part of the Windows version of the SDK. Take a look at .NET
Core 3 Preview 1 and Open Sourcing Windows Desktop Frameworks
Best Regards ,
