I have a unique app requirement. My web app is a multitenant application. I give my merchant sub domains. e.g. username.domain.com
Sub domains are currently work very well. I hosted my web application has an azure website. so Right now I am trying to ensure that my merchants can tie their custom domain name to the sub domain that I give to them.
This requirement needs me to add the subdomain I create for this merchants as a cname record. and Use my Azure web app IP address as the A record that their custom domain would route to.
Unfortunately when I do all this. I run the custom domain and I get to see the blue Azure web page with the message

As far as I know, if you want to enable A record custom domain for azure web app.I suggest you could firstly make sure your web app is not free.
The IP address may change if you delete and recreate your web app, or change the web app mode back to free.
Besides, if you want to bind custom domain with azure web app, you should enable the A record mapping in the app.
You should open app's Custom domains page in the Azure portal, add the fully qualified custom DNS name (for example, contoso.com) to the list.
Select the + icon next to Add hostname.
Then you should firstly validate the domain and click the add domian button:
