In a part of my code, I query the database, and I used the if within it, but I noticed that it consumes a lot of time, and it ends up with a time out error in that part of my code, after compiling lines per line, there is another way to improve these types

CPF/CNPJ they are familiar to me. In this part (in query) I prefer to return a a single field with one or another, then later filter by size.
But for the second part "if (process! = null)", seems there is not enough info to think about how to do it
I can only suggest you try to work with LINQ
If you formulate in a simple way, some other can came here to help

You can use the Stopwatch
to accurately measure elapsed time and find which code has take much time.
Besides, you can include all necessary code snippets for anyone and a detailed description about the results including any exception messages. This will help us quickly analyze your problem.
