We've been trying to get MVC4 installed on Visual Studio 2010 SP1 without much success. We keep getting this error when running the MVC4 installer, ASPNETMVC4SETUP.exe:
0x8007066a - The upgrade cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer
and that you have the correct upgrade.
When we click on the log file, literally nothing happens. There is no window that pops up, no link it goes to, nothing. I think if there is a log file, we can probably figure out what is going on.
1. Any idea what this error means or how to resolve this?
2. Any idea where we can find the log file for the installation?

I found a log file:

it looks like your vs2010 sp1 update failed. this is pretty common, google for solutions. worst case is reinstall of o/s and fresh install of vs2010 with sp1.
note: this is why I do all my dev work in virtual machines. the VM just has the dev tools, and is easy to rebuild. also not sure why you'd stick with vs2010. visual studio community (which is free) is much better than any addition of vs2010.

Sir, I found the official solution for you.
Please refer to:
"0x8007066A" or "66A" error when you install .NET Framework updates
Reason: This problem may be caused by system corruption on your computer. For example, your computer may have corrupted hard disk sectors, or an application may have overwritten the .NET Framework files.
