When I click on add new Item under projects , in the tab AspNetCore everything is empty. I would like to add a ASP.ent configuration file called appsettings.json.
Do I need to install some packages , if so what are they ?
ok I went on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/core/getting-started
The following were installed at C:\Program Files\dotnet
• .NET Core SDK 2.1.4
• .NET Core Runtime 2.0.5
• Runtime Package Store
is it the same as if i would install .NET Core Runtime under individual components using the Visual Studio Installer ?
Update: I have installed .Net SDK , but the tab is still empty.

As far as I know, if you want to create asp.net core template in visual studio, you need install the related asp.net core package in the VS.
If your visual studio version is 2015, you need update your visual studio version to the latest version.
You could follow below steps:
1. under Tools > Extensions & Updates
2.Click the updates to update the vs to the newest version.
Notice: VS2015 could only install the net core 1.1, if you want to use the newest net core, you need install the VS2017.
More details about the updates about the VS, you could refer to this link:
