Sure, you have not installed any extension recently?

Hi jelato,
you can check if you had install any updates regarding Visual Studio Express or Windows.
it is possible that update cause this issue.
try to check it and if you find it then try to remove that update temporary and check whether it solves the issue or not.
if the issue get solved then you can wait for next update and try to install that update to solve the issue permanently.
also you can try to move to Visual Studio 2017 community version which is free and provides much more functionality then Visual Studio 2013 Express.
Reference:
Visual Studio 2017
let us know if that solves your issue or not.

Deepak

Hi jelato,
you can try to open your project with VS 2017.
if it ask for upgrading then just do the upgrading and it will become compatible with VS 2017.
note that this upgrade of project is non reversible.
so I suggest you to take backup of project first and then try to upgrade.
other thing I find that , other users are also reporting this issue with other project type with VS 2013.
in that thread I find that some users try to install update 5 to solve the issue.
also many other temporary fix are available.
so you can try to refer link below may help you to solve the issue.
vs2013 express desktop has stopped working
Microsoft Visual Studio Stoped working
you can see that both issues are reported yesterday. so these are recent threads.
